Rolf Behm was born in 1952 in Karlsruhe, Germany, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Prof. Markus Lüpertz from 1973 to 1977. After graduating, he moved to London, been awarded with a DAAD grant. He moved to Berlin on the next year, where he still lives and works. In 1984 he went to Florence, Italy, to be a resident at Villa Romana. He took part, in 1993, of a workshop in Brazil, where he runs a studio and lives during part of the year. He has participated of exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe, Augsburg, Wiesbaden, St. Petersburg, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Washington and at the Howard Scott Gallery in New York City. Behm’s work is also represented in numerous collections, such as the Würth Collection, Ernst & Young, Essen and the Kunsthalle Mannheim.
