Further On Air
The Further On Artist-in-Residence (FOAIR) is a residence program created by Christina and Alan MacDonald to support contemporary artists. It started in 2016 with the invitation for a Brazilian artist to come and experience the light and natural beauty of the east end of Long Island in their home (Further On) in Amagansett, New York.
The program has embraced artists from various fields such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, architecture, video, photography and our artists come from all over the world. It aims to provide AIRs with an opportunity to become acquainted with the Hamptons area, rich in natural beauty and artistic tradition. The artists in residence are exposed to the local artistic and cultural community.
Residencies have varied from 2 weeks to 6 months, and have taken place mostly, but not only, during the summer (June-August). FOAIRs live in a fully equipped artist studio that includes a kiln. Artists enjoy the gardens and pool on the property as well as easy access to nearby beaches. A Jeep is available for the artist's use.
Artists are selected solely by invitation, no formal application. For additional information please contact us: contact@foair.org
